HUD Releases EIV Brochure for Residents

HUD has developed a new brochure that outlines the Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) system for residents of Section 8 and HUD-assisted sites in a clear, concise, easy-to-read format. EIV and You may help to ease residents' concerns about what information is available, how their information is being used, and who has access to it.

The brochure will probably make it a little easier for site managers to explain EIV requirements to residents, as well. EIV and You answers questions such as:

• What income information is in the EIV, and where does it come from?

• What is the information used for?

• Who has access to the EIV information?

• What if I disagree with the EIV information?

• Whom do I contact if my income or rental assistance isn't being calculated correctly?

• Where can I obtain more information on EIV and the income verification process?

HUD will issue a notice that will give owners and managers the requirements for distributing the brochure to residents. The brochure is currently available as a PDF at http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/mfh/rhiip/eivbrochure.pdf. HUD plans to make a print version available in the future.
